White Birch Announces Bankruptcy

As we assumed, White Birch joined AbitibiBowater in announcing they will file for bankruptcy protection. White Birch is the second-largest newsprint manufacturer in North America with newsprint mills in Quebec City, Riviere-du-Loup and Gatineau. The company expects operations to continue producing paper for end users.

How will AbitibiBowater, Blue Heron, White Birch etc etc - the newsprint producers ever come out of bankruptcy? Demand trend is declining and no matter how much debt they shed, these large companies continue to run at a loss.

Agree with the comment above - nice reporting. I understand AbitibiBowater is talking about more shut downs. The Newsprint market in in big trouble ....... long term. How will White Birch ever get out of the Chapter 11 hole?
