Consistent with our previous releases, as of today, Domtar and NewPage
announced $40/ton price hike on its offset grades, effective Feb 22.
Others, including International Paper, Glatfelter, Finch, Flambeau, and Grays Harbor have already announced similar price hikes on offset grades. Georgia Pacific, Boise, Suzano, Soporcel have limited their efforts to cut-size office grades. The continued rally in pulp prices is pressuring margins at nonintegrated mills.

Well, without the credit from the black liquor all mills will be required to increase all prices. Demand is down and costs are up - producers will be forced to advance all prices or go out of business.
Good stuff. very timely. We use your blog all the time before conducting our mill meetings.
Does anyone have any comments on likelihood for the coated publication producers to increase pricing. Clearly they, too, have cost pressures and are in need of an increase. Obvious problem is lack of demand!
Real challenge is how are 'we' printers to pass this increase along without loosing business. The last series of increases announced in a poor market saw end users printing less or reviewing alternative media avenues. Once our end users leave for other programs - they seldom come back.
