Race is on for Digital versus Print

Forrester Research has just revised up its May 2009 forecast of this year’s U.S. eReader sales to 3 million units from 2 million, due to strong sales in November and December. Moreover, it now expects sales of another 6 million units in 2010.

Lots of ereaders being introduced at this year's Electronics Show. They are totally cool. Will they replace books at the beach - don't know - will they replace books / magazines /newspapers etc on the plane / train I would have said doubtful........ until I tried one at the show. My advice - try one before you comment on success.

I continue to hear comments such as this. Guess I will, in fact, try an EReader to determine if a paper guy like me can make the transition to digital. Trains, planes, and automobiles - I can certainly understand the ease of downloading news releases or books and not having to read a hard copy - but the beach or pool - with sand and water - think the old fashion media still might win out.
I am watching this new technology closely. Could books, magazines, and newspapers really end up as the horse buggy whip?
