Conde Nast Considers a New Magazine

Finally, some good news for the ailing magazine industry. Recall, we reported on Conde Nast having to close six consumer magazines, including Gourmet; reduced costs 25%; and making several reductions in their workforce – have announced they are working on a trade magazine for the men's' fashion market. This new title may be marketed as a trade publication and not a consumer magazine.

Let's hope for a healthy circulation - and plenty of paper consumed!!! The magazine industry has been hit very hard - so much of the revenue stream depends on ad rev. and no one is advertising! The paper industry needs 'print' to survive. ..... if the pulp and paper producers are to still be around long term.

Wonder if tighter focus, such as trade vs. consumer, is the answer for a successful launch for a new magazine? Can anyone comment on the difference in revenue models between trade and consumer?
